Extracirriculars

Classroom learning is very beneficial, but oftentimes focuses on only one subject at a time.  To pull everything together and apply what I've learned in a fun environment, I've joined and participated in a variety of extracirricular activities.  Here are my favorite highlights!

RedBlack Consulting

RedBlack is a student-run consulting group.  I've worked on several clients from a wide variety of fields since joining RedBlack.  In a couple cases, I've been an account manager, meaning that I acted as a point of contact to facilitate better communication between the team and our client and organized our team so as to encourage better performance.

I love the varied and comprehensive nature of our work, which changes completely every time we get a new client.

This is a medium involvement club, requiring a time committment of about 2 hours per week.

Case Competition Team

Our Case Competition team was formed from a group of diverse individuals with a lot of drive.  The largest case we've undertaken this semester was a case sponsored by vitaminwater.  The case spanned several months.  Despite hundreds of schools submitting an entry nationwide, we proudly placed as an Honorable Mention.

I enjoy the high energy work environment created by this team, as well as being able to apply what I've learned in class to a real company.

This is a high involvement club, which requires a time committment of anywhere between 3 hours and 10 hours a week while a competition is ongoing.

AMAserves

I participated in AMAserves, a service group affiliated with our university's chapter of the American Marketing Association.  We collected gently used suits for disadvantaged women looking to get back on their feet, and even went to volunteer in the DC location.

I liked working with AMAserves because we saw legitimate and measurable results; our drives collected over 500 pieces of clothing!

This was  medium involvement club, requiring a time committment of approximately 1.5 hours per week.
